TweeteBirds Aviary

Our Aviary

We have been in the company of parrots for over 14 years. It started with a wild caught Timneh hen named Chloe and grew from there. Sadly Chloe passed away years ago, but she showed us so much and we learned so much from that little grey bird. Currently we have 3 pet birds and our breeder pairs, which we also consider pets.

We run a closed aviary. Meaning we do not allow strangers into our breeding room. It's not because we have anything to "hide", but it's because we care about the well being of our breeders, eggs and chicks. Our breeders do not like disruption. If a stranger enters their room it can mean broken eggs, abandoned eggs or dead chicks. They get highly stressed if something is out of the normal and it can be disasterous. Some parrots can take years before they breed. We do have cameras set up to mintor the birds without having to enter the room every few minutes and after years of having some of our pairs I can tell when they will have eggs without looking in the nest box.

All our birds are treated like pets. Pet cages (not wire breeder cages), tons of toys that for the most part are changed weekly (everyone has a favorite they can't part with), several different size and texture perches, daily interaction and scratches (if they allow it).

Babies and Adult Diet

All our babies and birds are given a daily fresh diet which can be:

  • Eggs (scrambled with or without shell or hard boiled)
  • Beans
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Beak Appetit

Along with a fresh diet all our birds are given a high quality seed mix 24/7:

  • Nutra Berries
  • Granola (Honey, Rolled Oats, Almonds, Cashews, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds and Walnuts)
  • Dried Pineapple
  • Dried Papaya
  • Banana Chips

Babies

We care about each baby that leaves here. I never force wean our birds, they decide when they want to  grow up. So it's hard to give an exact day or week that they will be weaned.

I also do NOT sell unweaned babies to anyone for any reason. If you think that a baby will bond better visit the Q & A section about this topic.

All babies go home with toys, food, hatch certificate and a stuffed animal.

We offer lifetime  support for you and your new baby. We will gladly accept any of our birds back at any time for any reason. We would rather have our birds back then them end up in an unsuitable home or situation.

Re-Home

We do take in other birds as well, even if not bought from us.

Maybe you were talked into a bird that is too much for you to handle or not what you thought he/she would be? Or you want to retire a breeder pair but don't know where they should go?

We can help and will work with you in finding a suitable home either here or somewhere else for your bird and work to find you the right bird that fits your family!

We  keep in contact (if you wish) and let you know what's going on, pictures and emails.

While we are breeders, the birds are our first priority and their happiness is the most important thing

We have extensive experience with handicapped birds. Our first bird couldn't walk (Chloe). We have several special needs birds. So if you have a baby or adult (breeder or pet) with emotional or physical limitations please let us know. We maybe able to help or offer advice.

If you do decide to place a bird with us, it is up to you whether you want them to stay here or be available to another home.

We do buy birds and cages if need be (we understand birds are not cheap) and the price is based on several factors. Please also keep in mind that if they stay here they are given the best of everything (which isn't cheap either). When it comes to our birds we don't cut corners or cost on anything!
